Pre-requisites: Trainees for this course must have a comprehensive knowledge of modern arboricultural practice, particularly relating to tree climbing and rigging techniques and the associated equipment used in such operations. They will typically come from an arboricultural contracting background, but could also include those involved in associated roles provided they have the relevant knowledge and experience of arboricultural equipment and the circumstances in which it is commonly used.
The Lantra Awards Thorough Examination of Arboricultural Lifting Equipment course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to perform a thorough examination of arboricultural lifting equipment.
The course will also provide all the information and demonstrate the practical skills required when undertaking the regulated qualification.
Who is it for?
Typically, you will come from an arboricultural contracting background, but this also includes those involved in associated roles, providing you have the relevant knowledge and experience of arboricultural equipment and the circumstances in which it is commonly used.
This course is for Arboricultural ‘competent persons’ as defined by Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). This course will typically suit you if you have a responsibility for ‘thorough examination’ in the course of your work. Examples would include:
- LOLER examiners
- Supervisors and foremen.
To be on this course, you must have a comprehensive knowledge of modern arboricultural practice, particularly relating to tree climbing and rigging techniques and the associated equipment used in such operations.
Please Note: For persons carrying out a thorough examination they must have appropriate practical and theoretical knowledge and experience of the arboricultural lifting equipment to be thoroughly examined.

This course culminates in an independent assessment for a City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate of Competence in the Thorough Examination Of Arboricultural Equipment.
Learners will also receive a Lantra Awards E-Certificate of Attendance.
